For many years, I had attempted to perform my Halo Aura ~ Blacklight
Show
on the Martial Arts Tour...The mentality at that time, was that of
the
"punch & kick bravo", that typically permeated the
tour and still does.
That is the base of the martial scene, people would
typically gauge your relevancy
as to how many titles or championships
you have won.
There were no performers on the marital arts tour.
Looking to perform in other venues I first performed at parties, of
all kinds.
I had performed this way all through the 70's, and the first part of the 80's.
During this time, intermittently.
This was good, but, there was a lot of time in-between
performance opportunities.
Thus, my life long buddies of Southern Rock en Roll stepped in.
Thank you very much!
To: Ronnie VanZant, Alan Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Johnny VanZant,
Danny Joe Brown, James Brown, Donnie Smith, Gene Odom & Bobby
Ingram.
Just to name a few...
These boys knew how to Rock en Roll, my friends!
In the beginning I
would swing Chuxs backstage as they were playing...

I
attended the Lynyrd Skynyrd Concert at Sgt. Peppers Night Club -Jax Fla. 1974.
They were playing for the local crew as a charity for the food bank,
Admission was a can of food.
This was the "best concert" that I ever heard them Do.
The boys and I then went to Playground South, (a nightclub in Jacksonville
Florida), we were checking out how well the young in's had "tightened
up".
Johnny VanZant's first band, "The Austin Nichols Band",
with his guitarist, Eric Lungrend, they were jamming'! After the show, we were
all backstage, touching base, when Donnie Smith and James Brown said
to "Johnny VanZant", check this guy out with the chux"...Johnny
liked the chux, and I went to it.....bottom line, I then had the opportunity
to open for Johnny's Band, I even performed at a Hurricane Party at Jax
Bch. when a hurricane was passing by.
Thanks to.
Molly Hatchet, Greg Allman, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bobby Ingram and so on...
This opportunity moved me into another arena & new medium of performance.
The experience of performing in front of 1,000's of Southern Rock Fans,
is truly, where I cut my teeth, as a performer.
As things go, bands live in a cycle, eventually, other opportunities
arose with the radio stations, associated to the bands.
Performing back at Playground South, manager
Scott Moritz suggested that I should audition for a comedy show review.
He knew the DJ, at Rock 105, who was the host...
"The Radman".
Radical Bradford (i.e. Brad Mercer).
I met Rad at a Nightclub
called Hollywood (Jax Fla.)..
I performed as a blacklight ninja, to the songs of Alan Parsons, Pink
Floyd, Moody Blues. I was "on the card"! The Punch Line Comedy
Clubs were next.
