Kokusai Budoin

International Martial Arts Federation

The Kokusai Budoin (International Martial Arts Federation), founded in 1952, is dedicated to the promotion of friendship and cooperation among leaders and enthusiasts of the Japanese martial arts. The headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan. IMAF has established branches in many countries throughout the world.

The Kokusai Budoin is comprised of the following divisions: judo, kendo, aikido, iaido, Nihon jujutsu, batto jutsu, kobudo, aikijujutsu, and kyudo.

We are pleased to announce the 1993 IMAF North American National Congress & Seminars, which will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The event will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 11, 12 & 13, 1993. In cooperation with the University of Michigan, the seminars will be held at the Intramural Sport Complex on the UM Campus.

There will be four teachers traveling from Kokusai Budion, IMAF Headquarters in Japan, including:
Mr. Shizuya Sato, Chief Director of IMAF, Hanshi 9th dan Nihon Jujutsu and Hanshi 8th dan Judo;
Mr. Tadao Ochiai
, who has not been to North America since 1988, Iaido Division Shihan and Hanshi 9th dan;
Mr. Ikuo Higuchi, Kyoshi 8th dan Karatedo and Kyoshi 7th dan Okinawan Kobudo.
Mr. Jun Osano
, ...who has never before taught in North America, Kyoshi 6th dan Japanese Kobudo
and Kyoshi 6th dan Nihon Jujutsu.


I enjoyed the seminar, the organizational skills of the Masters were Exemplary.
