A word for Mary &
Roy my friends.
Mary
Time and distance
has restricted me from getting to know Mary Williams
in away that I'd like to, but on those occasions when I have been in
her
presence I have witnessed what a devoted and loyal supporter she is
of her
husband, my friend, Roy Williams. In my communications with Mary over
the years I have come to know her as a highly intelligent and lovely
lady who is deeply spiritual. I have not had the pleasure to see her
perform her art but have heard testimony from others, some of which
are her students, who proclaim how graceful and skilled Mary is. I can
totally imagine this
because when you own such a great love for something you certainly must
do it well. God made no mistake in the partnering of Roy and Mary and
their union personifies the saying "Beside every great man is a
great woman". I truly believe Mary is a great woman, courage filled,
strikingly beautiful, kind hearted and gracious beyond words. Indeed,
the Matriarch of Lissajous Do Ryu.
Roy
I would like to share a
chapter of my life's book with you. In the 1970's I
was part of a group of martial art enthusiast who regularly met to practice,
innovate, and share our love for the excitement and therapy of our sport.
Among us emerged a star, Roy Williams. Roy quickly and apparently
demonstrated a natural ability of skill and leadership that distinguished himself as sensational and unique. Immediately and still, other martial artists clearly recognize the special blessing Roy was endowed with
and looked to him as the scholar and leader among them. It has since been obvious that Roy's spirit was born to honor and sanctify martial arts.
His physical command of the traditionally known martial arts coupled with
his brilliant and far thinking mind inspired him to create and proliferate
a style of karate known today as Lissajous Do Ryu, a beautiful and scientific theory of movement and light orchestrated in the most awesome martial
arts that exist today. In Roy's presence, you are keenly aware that he is
an extraordinary man; that there is something God given about his talent.
In conversation with Roy, it is confirmed that he's the real deal. He is
a well studied and researched artist who speaks definitely and religiously about his art. There is a humble wisdom that emits from him often experienced with those rare individuals whose life stands for something greater than will be known in their lifetime. Over the years I have observed a movement created by this man so powerful among its participants that others have sought to imitate it. But as everyone knows, the heart
of a sensation can not be imitated with only similar appearances. There
must be soul. Roy Williams is the soul of this art form. From his soul has
sewn many seeds whose lives have been enriched. I am proud to be one of them. When you are so touched by something that you have a satisfied sense
of selfwhen you do it, he who has inspired and enabled you is worth
much gratitude.
Thank you Roy Williams.
